Bose Soundsport Earbuds
To play sports enlivened with music, podcasts or to follow the online workouts, not just any pair of headphones or earphones will do. With a golf tee design, such as the AirPods and many others, the probability of them coming out of the ears is much higher than with other models that adapt perfectly to the ear, such as the Bose Soundsport Earbuds. They are specific to exercise and are so comfortable that it seems that you are not wearing them.
Don't be fooled by their extravagance: they adapt wonderfully
Bose Soundsport Earbuds consist of three elements: the earpiece itself, the pads to insert them in the ears, and special wings or fins so that they do not fall. All materials are of high quality, as is the case with all Bose products. The oval part contains all the technology and the area left on the outside acts as a touch surface to control playback. This part protrudes a lot from the ear, giving the wearer an appearance that reminds us of Frankenstein from the 1931 film directed by James Whale
Unlike other true wireless ear pads, this model's are not circular but rather shaped like a cone. This format, together with the fact that they are made with extremely soft silicone, allows them to fit incredibly well in the ear hole, without any pain after several hours of use. The fins are also made of this same type of rubber that is so pleasant to the touch and they are the key so that the Bose Soundsport Earbuds hold very well and do not fall even if you are exercising with sudden movements of the head. Of course, it is important that you choose the size of these fins well (they come in three sizes in the box) and that you wear the headphones as indicated by the company in the Bose Music app.
With the fins integrated into the headset, they are somewhat bulky, and that is why its case is larger than other similar models, for example, the Sony WF-XB700 that already seemed a bit uncomfortable to store with tight pants. However, this will not be a problem if you carry it in your backpack or gym bag or in a loose pocket of a sports jacket.
Simple touch controls but no noise cancellation
The Bose Soundsport Earbuds can be taken with you to the gym or to train outdoors without worrying about getting wet from sweat or rain or any other splashing water, as they are IPX4 certified. Both for playing music and podcasts and for talking on the phone, the headphones have not given us sound problems. The audio stands out, sounds crisp and clear, just as you can expect from a product from a manufacturer with a lot of experience in this field.
Touch controls respond quickly and easily to keystrokes. They have been very easy for us to handle to control playback and answer calls (you just press twice on the right earphone to pause the music and start a phone conversation), as well as to go to the next song (with two taps on the left). When you remove the right earbud, the audio is automatically paused. If you prefer, the app allows you to configure the left earphone so that instead of skipping the track, it informs you by the voice of the battery level. It also offers the possibility, by selecting this option in the app, to answer a call automatically when you put on the right earbud.
Headphones only allow these basic and must-have adjustments. You can't mess with a thousand and one possibilities, since they don't have noise cancellation or any other option to adapt to the ambient sound. To control the volume you will have to take the phone out of the bag, either to regulate it from the physical button or from the Bose application.
As for the Bluetooth connection, they have worked well, they connect the first time. You can link them to several phones, but if you want to change to another cell phone, from the app you must disconnect one and activate the other that you want to use with the headphones.
Battery, less than expected
In autonomy, the brand promises up to five hours on a single charge. In our tests, it has not reached this time, we have been given almost four hours of podcasts uninterrupted. The headphones give voice prompts when the battery is running low, but only five minutes in advance, so when they inform you, you should immediately put them in the case. This indicates with several lights located on the front the charge level to know when you should plug it in and in this way have it ready to fill the battery of the Bose Soundsport Earbuds at any time.
Every time you put them on, it tells you the battery percentage and the name of the phone to which they connect. If you want to know how much autonomy you have left, you open the app, and there comes this information separately in each headset.
Conclusion
If you are looking for extremely comfortable headphones with which to train without fear of getting out of your ears, with great sound and simple-to-use basic touch controls, the Bose Sport Earbuds are for you.
